THE CONTINENTAL TOUCH
SUNDERLAND'S RESTAURANT scene has received another boost with the opening of Villa del Porto, a new Italian and French influenced eatery situated on the city's Fish Quay. The restaurant, which overlooks the River Wear, combines classic and modern dishes from Italy and France and specialises in seafood such as lobster, monkfish and oysters. Andrea Camastra, proprietor and head chef, said: "I wanted to create a restaurant where I could use all of the natural and seasonal ingredients we have to hand to produce food inspired by the Mediterranean and the people and places which inspired me to become a chef." Villa del Porto is open for lunch from 12pm to 2pm, Monday to Saturday, and in the evening from 5.30pm to 10.30pm, Monday to Thursday, and 5.30pm to 11pm on Friday and Saturday.
